Ex-Ingram President Grainger Joins Bell Micro Board

Bell Micro named former Ingram Micro president Mike Grainger to its board of directors, the San Jose, Calif.-based distributor announced Friday.

"Having led the largest IT distributor in the world, Mike has extensive knowledge of our industry, suppliers and customers, as well as the IT distribution market as a whole," Don Bell, president, CEO and chairman of Bell Micro, said in a statement.

Bell Micro, D-Link sign distribution deal

Bell Microproducts Inc. has said it plans to distribute D-Link's products to channel partners after recently inking an agreement with the networking and communications vendor. Under the terms of the agreement, D-Link's full line of products, ranging from routers and switches to IP telephony and security and management products, will now be available to San Jose-based Bell Micro for distribution to channel partners.

Bell’s storage assessment tool for reseller

Bell Micro Inc., a value-added distributor of network storage technology, will provide its resellers with a turnkey storage assessment solution based on the Profiler Suite from Tek-Tools Software Inc., a provider of storage and backup resource management software solutions in Dallas, Texas. Bell Micro has also entered into a distribution agreement with Tek-Tools to resell its entire Profiler Suite.

The turnkey storage assessment package, developed by Tek-Tools, provides a key value to resellers, giving them the ability to expand their service offerings by simplifying the collection process of important data-points and providing a best practices model for making both tactical and strategic recommendations to their customers, Bell Microproducts of San Jose, California said on Wednesday.

Bell Launches Initiative

Bell Microproducts Inc., today announced it has launched an initiative called "Right In Your Own Backyard" to reach out to small and medium-sized value added resellers (VARs) and system builders in an effort to build new relationships and partnerships with Bay Area resellers. The initiative is designed to make the company's $150 million inventory quickly accessible to solution providers through a 60-minute "Will Call" service and free same-day shipping to locations near the Bell Micro Silicon Valley distribution center.

Bell Micro Offers Storage Assessment Service to VARs

Bell Micro is helping solution providers add a storage assessment service to their line card, thanks to help from Dallas-based Tek-Tools.

Based on Tek-Tools' StorageProfiler application, the service lets VARs implement the software in a customer's IT infrastructure for 30 days to gather information on direct-attached and networked storage, file activity and volume utilization to assess future requirements, said Gary Gammon, vice president of marketing at Bell Micro.

Bell Micro signs eSoft for network security

A recently-signed agreement between Bell Micro and security vendor eSoft Inc. will allow Bell Micro to reach out to both its storage- and security-oriented resellers.

According to the agreement, Bell Micro will distribute eSoft's entire line of InstaGate Integrated Security Gateways and ThreatWall Content Security Gateways. The eSoft solutions are designed to provide protection from dynamic network threats such as worms, viruses, spyware, spam, Trojans, phishing, and intrusion attacks, as well as threats carried over instant messaging and peer-to-peer applications, and also provide deep packet firewall and VPN support.
