U.S. employee benefits overview
Bell Micro offers employees a competitive benefit package. This summary is an overview of the benefits available to our regular, full-time employees working 30 hours or more per week.
health plans
The cost of health insurance coverage is paid primarily by Bell Microproducts. Employees contribute a small amount-less than 20% of the cost. Health insurance coverage is effective on the 1st day of the month following day of hire.
- Medical Plan choices vary based on employees' locations.
- Dental-Employees may choose between a PPO (choose any dentist) and a DMO (choose from a list of dentists who participate in the network).
- Vision-provides coverage for an annual exam; lenses and frames or contacts every 24 months.
flexible spending account
Employees may set aside pre-tax dollars to pay for out-of-pocket health expenses and/or dependent care (day care for your eligible dependents). In addition, this plan allows the employee contribution for health insurance to be paid with pretax dollars.
401k plan
Employees may contribute up to 30% of eligible earnings, not to exceed $15,500 for 2007. Bell Microproducts will provide an annual match that vests according to your hire date. Investment funds are provided by Prudential Financial.
employee assistance and life era program
This program helps employees manage issues and problems at home and at work by providing advice and referrals for child care, elder care, legal problems and financial planning. Advice is provided on-the-spot over the phone or face-to-face with a network counselor. (Five counselor visits per episode are provided free of charge. Meetings with attorneys are provided at a discounted rate.)
education assistance
Bell Microproducts promotes employee development and professional enrichment. Bell Microproducts will reimburse the cost of tuition and textbooks, up to $3,000 per year. Employees who have completed the eligibility period of 90 days are eligilble for this program.
short-term disability
Employees not covered by a state mandated plan may elect to participate. The plan's disability benefit is $882 per week (maximum) or 55% of income.
long-term disability
Employees may elect to enroll in this supplemental long-term disability plan. The LTD benefit covers 66 2/3% of eligible monthly earnings. Bell Microproducts pays 50% of the cost of this benefit.
life/travel accident insurance
- Basic Life Insurance: Bell Microproducts pays 100% of the cost of coverage for basic life insurance (one times annual salary to a maximum of $150,000).
- Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) Insurance: Bell Microproducts pays 100% of the cost of coverage for AD&D (one times annual salary to a maximum of $150,000).
- Voluntary Life and AD&D: Employees may purchase an additional one times annual salary to a maximum of $150,000 for both life and AD&D coverage.
- Travel Accident: Employees traveling 25 days or more are also covered by the Company's travel accident plan.
paid time off
- Holidays: Bell Microproducts observes nine paid holidays per year.
- Vacation: New employees accrue ten vacation days per year of employment. Vacation time accrual is accelerated for years of service.
- Sick Pay: Employees may accrue five sick days per year.
- Jury Duty: Bell Microproducts recognizes the civic responsibility of its employees and provides paid time off for employees requested to serve on a jury.
- Bereavement: In the event of a family death, employees are provided up to three days paid leave.

- Access to BeyondWork.com: Employees may purchase heavily discounted products (movie, event, and theme park tickets, and other personal items).
- Web based computer training: Courses in Microsoft office products are available at no cost to employees and their families.
- Technology Federal Credit Union membership: This institution provides employees with a full range of financial services.
- Purchase of home computer: Employees may purchase a home computer from the Company through credit card, check or payroll deduction.
